Bee and Wasp Extermination*
Almost everyone who has a wasp problem calls for control of “bees”, but in truth bees and wasps are different species with different habits requiring different treatment techniques. It is extremely uncommon to have a problem with bees that requires the services of a pest controller. Commonly the problem is some type of wasp, the most prevalent being yellow jaclets, followed closely by bald faced (white faced) hornets.
At Coventry Pest Control, we use formulations that include both a fast-acting, short-lived ingredient to knockout flying insects, and a more persistent ingredient that kills insects that are in the nest or that are returning to the nest after foraging for food.
Particularly in late summer when yellowjackets change from an insect based diet to a carbohydrate rich diet, it’s important to eliminate all food sources (e.g., open garbage cans, pet foods). Water sources around the yard may also attract yellowjackets during hot, drought-stricken periods.
*It is important that I clarify that we do not “exterminate” bees, or anything else for that matter. We’re all kind of allergic to that word in this business but the reality of website searches is that people commonly use the word “exterminate” or “extermination” to look for pest control services online so it has to be part of the page name. Our business is pest control, or nowadays “pest management”. In the end, though, you just want ‘em gone, and that’s what we do!
